修士課程では、マニュエル・カステルの社会学理論における、社会運動・社会構造・空間の３の概念に着目し、初期から現在に至るまでの理論変遷を検討した。今後も、カステル研究を継続して進める。

一方で、近年議論されている創造都市論についても研究を行なっている。具体的には、文化行政推進都市である宮城県仙台市、茨城県水戸市をフィールドとし、文化施設を対象としつつ、芸術と地域住民の関係性を明らかにすべく、調査を進めている。
