   本プロジェクトは、国際卓越研究大学助成金に基づいて、東部ユーラシアにおける文化財の化学分析拠点とネットワークの構築を行うため立ち上げられました。

　近年、考古学・文化財科学の分野では、従来の手法に加え多様な学際的アプローチが試みられています。特に理化学分析については、世界的にデータの蓄積が進んでいますが、データ自身の手法的確からしさやその解釈をめぐって、文理両サイドの一層の対話が求められています。東北大学大学院文学研究科考古学専攻分野においても、本学金属材料研究所との共同研究も進めるなど、東部ユーラシア各地の共同調査と資料分析を行ってきましたが、より客観性・体系性のある一分野を確立するため、2026年4月に本プロジェクトを設立しました。本プロジェクトでは、新たに着任した飯塚教授を中心に広いアカデミックネットワークを構築し、数多くの一次資料（特に金属器・石器・土器・瓦など）の化学分析結果に基づいて、文理双方での対話に基づく研究を展開していきます。

 

This project was launched under the Grant of University for International Research Excellence to establish a center and network for the chemical analysis of cultural properties in Eastern Eurasia. In recent years, the fields of archaeology and cultural heritage science have been exploring diverse interdisciplinary approaches in addition to traditional methods. Particularly with regard to physical and chemical analysis, while the accumulation of data is progressing globally, there is a growing need for further dialogue between the humanities and sciences concerning the methodological reliability of the data itself and its interpretation. The Department of Archaeology in the Graduate School of Letters at Tohoku University has also been conducting joint surveys and analyzing materials from various regions of Eastern Eurasia, including through collaborative research with our university’s Institute for Materials Research. However, to establish a more objective and systematic field of study, this project was launched in April 2026. Led by the newly appointed Professor Iizuka , this project will build a broad academic network and conduct research grounded in dialogue between the humanities and sciences, based on the results of chemical analyses of numerous primary sources (particularly metal artifacts, stone tools, pottery, and roof tiles).
